Grey Backdrop

Why use a grey backdrop? The answer is it is the most versatile of backdrops, it can be lit in various ways to produce the backdrop colour you want. The background can be lit so that it appears white, it needs to be 1 to 1.5 stops more exposure than your subject, light your subject so the background becomes black.
Want a coloured background then light with a coloured gel, we have barn doors that have coloured gels. So you can see that by balancing your lighting almost any effect can be achieved thats why some professionals will not have anything else. So wether you are using studio flash or continuous lighting this is a useful backdrop to have in your kit. More…
